Patricia M. Ballard


Patricia M. Ballard joined Avery Dooley & Noone in March of 2013. She focuses her practice primarily on the representation of federal and state employees in employment matters, as well as insurance defense litigation and coverage matters. Ms. Ballard also has experience in conducting residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Ms. Ballard handles employment matters such as agency and congressional investigations, agency disciplinary actions and grievances, matters involving workplace discrimination (race, gender, age, and disability) before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and whistleblower retaliation claims before the Office of Special Counsel.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ballard was in-house counsel for a global asset management firm registered as an Investment Adviser with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a financial services attorney, she gained valuable expertise in issues relating to institutional asset management, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940, corporate law, employment law, Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. She has a breadth of experience interpreting and applying federal statutes, rules, and policies.

Ms. Ballard is an active member of the local community, particularly in Belmont, Massachusetts. She has also served as a volunteer attorney with the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Boston Medical Center. Ms. Ballard lives in Belmont with her husband Brian and two sons.
